Piecing the plates onto the coat of plates has been slow going but it’s coming along!
The spacing on the left side is a bit tighter than that on the right because I forgot to measure before adding the plates. So now the plates on the right side for the third row need to be sanded down a bit more in order to fit. I am hoping I can get to a belt sander in the next couple of weeks to work on this.

The plates missing along the edges are missing because I need to drill another hole for the strap and buckles that will be the closure for the coat of plates.
Of course, as with all crafts, it’s not a project until something goes wrong. I started to rivet the cloth without the plate! Good thing we caught it before I hammered down the rivets, that would have been a mess to complete.

So now I will start working on the back since I need access to a drill press and a belt sander in order to finish the front.
